Homeward on his weary way.....
This beautiful piece of a moment was shot by my friend Dr. Ajmal as we were on an outing near Rock Garden, Aseer National Park, in the southern province of Saudi Arabia. The poeple over here still rear flocks of sheep for a living. How sad (and worrying) that this way of life is dying out and that there is hardly anyone wanting to perpetuate it. Modern people look down on lifestyles that are closely linked with nature but, in the words of Henry Thoreau: What's the use of a house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on? In Thoreau's days there were no computers or other electronic devices. Today we can extend "house" to include all the gadgets we think we can't live without, and a host of other man-made things besides.
